Testimonies are the fastest way to close the sale. Build your testimonials by simply asking for them. If you have done a great job or offered a great product that supplies a solution for your clients, you have a right to ask for that testimonial.

Yes, there are people who pay for testimonials but then that becomes a paid testimonial and people do not trust it because it is a paid testimony. Would you? People tend to think others will lie about anything if they are being paid. There is nothing wrong with sending a thank you or something small to thank them for taking the time to do this for you.
Testimonials are not easy to get if you just wait for someone to do it on their own. Most of us are more than willing to give our testimony if we are asked. We just do not typically think to do that on our own.
The best time to ask is when you are in the middle of a project when they get so excited about your services or your products.
Tell them what you are looking for. This works well asking for recommendations on LinkedIn as well.
Example: Susie you mentioned how much easier it is for your office with us doing all your collections and you get paid so much quicker. Would you mind writing a testimonial or quick video? If you are comfortable with this could you, please include things such as:
- What was your favorite thing about working with us? (feel free to mention a great employee)
- What results did you get?
- Were we professional?
- Would you recommend us to your friends or business associates?
Ask if you may use their full name or what they prefer such as first name last initial. In some cases, you may ask if you can use their photo and if so, which one do you have permission to us.
This is the great form of social proof you can get. It is a third-party endorsement. The reason we love testimonials on LinkedIn as they cannot be manipulated so everyone knows it is exactly what the person giving the testimonial said.
